Project Brief

CCDC is implementing a cluster randomized controlled trial under the NIHR Global Health Research Centre (GHRC) across Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Haryana in India and Kathmandu in Nepal focusing on improving care for people living with multiple long-term conditions (MLTCs) at the primary healthcare level through technology enabled interventions, including electronic decision supportive system (EDSS), assisted telemedicine, and a patient facing digital application, in collaboration with partners in India and the UK.

Job Description

The telemedicine doctor (General medicine specialist) will provide remote clinical consultation services as part of the project’s telemedicine component. This role involves delivering high quality, evidence based clinical care, disease management guidance, via digital platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Telemedicine doctor (General medicine specialist) will be responsible for the following:

Clinical care & Teleconsultation

  • Conduct virtual consultations with patients using CCDC telemedicine platforms (Digisetu).
  • Review and interpret patient history, symptoms, investigations, and previous treatments.
  • Diagnose acute and chronic conditions within the scope of telemedicine practice.
  • Review and validate EDSS recommendations or independently develop evidence based treatment plans, including medications, lifestyle counselling, and follow up schedules.
  • Advise on necessary diagnostic tests and coordinate with local facilities for test facilitation.
  • Participate in project meetings, training sessions, and quality review processes.
  • Work closely with project teams, allied health professionals, and digital health coordinators.
  • Maintain scheduled online availability during assigned telemedicine hours to deliver timely consultations and follow up care.

Ensure adherence to national telemedicine practice guidelines, patient confidentiality, and informed consent protocols.

Competencies/ Skill sets required

Educational qualifications

  • MBBS with MD/DNB (General Medicine) or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
  • Valid registration with National/State Medical Council.

 

Essential experience & skills

  • Minimum 2–5 years of clinical experience in internal/general medicine.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Indian Public Health Standard (IPHS) guidelines and Primary Health Centre (PHC) functionality, including service delivery norms, availability of essential medicines, diagnostics, and manpower.
  • Familiarity with telemedicine or digital health service delivery.
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary and technology-enabled care environments.

 

Desirable

  • Proficiency in spoken Telugu and Hindi is desirable.
  • Experience working in public health programs or research projects.
  • Exposure to electronic decision support systems or digital clinical tools.
  • Prior involvement in training or mentoring healthcare providers.

Experience working in resource-constrained or government health systems.

Compensation

Commensurate with experience, qualification, and guidelines.
